A Note from Matt Fuller
Fair housing isn't just a compliance topic. The real estate industry has a troubling history with discrimination, and California's history specifically includes the 1964 passage of Proposition 14, which enshrined housing discrimination in our state constitution before being ruled unconstitutional.
I had the privilege of being part of the conversation that eventually led the California Association of Realtors to formally acknowledge and apologize for our industry's role in writing, promoting, and passing Proposition 14. Many others carried that work forward in meaningful ways. But that history is part of why I take fair housing as seriously as I do today.
If you ever feel you have not been treated fairly in a real estate transaction — whether by us, by another agent, by a landlord, by a seller, or by anyone else — there are real resources. Please use them.
